Stanton Drew Circles and Cove

STANTON DREW CIRCLES AND COVE

11 miles from Cheddar Parish

Although this is the third largest complex of prehistoric standing stones in England, the three circles and three-stone ‘cove’ of Stanton Drew in Somerset are surprisingly little known. The Great Circle, 113 metres in diameter, is one of the largest stone circles in the country and has 26 surviving upright stones. Yet recent surveys have revealed that the circles and cove were just part of a much more elaborate and important ritual site than had previously been imagined.

Churches in Cheddar Parish

St Andrew's Church, Cheddar

Church Street Cheddar
(01934) 742535

St Andrew's is a beautiful Medieval Church.  There has been a church in Cheddar since Saxon times and behind the church there are Saxon stones in the Vicarage garden.

We have a variety of services to suit all tastes and provide a warm welcome for everyone.  One of the more recent additions to our service rota is the Breakfast Service.  It is proving a very popular, informal, service with the chance to enjoy conversation over bacon and egg butties, toast, cereal and fresh tea and coffee!

St Andrew's also welcomes the three local schools in for their seasonal services and project work as well as a weekly toddler group.

We look forward to seeing you.
